Mountain Art Museum (Sangaku Art Museum)
Inside this wooden house is a small collection of paintings from several different artists, offering glimpses of mountain peaks and alpine vistas. The primary artist showcased is Genichiro Adachi, who climbed the Japanese Alps extensively during his life. His desire to capture the beauty and ruggedness of mountains led him to literally holding onto the sides of mountain sides and cliffs in order to get the right angle for his paintings. His canvases reflect this extreme painting style, being compact in order to fit inside of his backpack during his travels.
The sweet elderly woman who runs the place also has a small café, where you can relax and enjoy your cup of coffee in the museum or outside on the brick patio, surrounded by forest.
