Natural Cloth Dying
At the foothills of Japan’s North Alps, Yasoan is located in a small neighborhood surrounded by pine forest and bordering the Karasu River. The owners, Mr. & Mrs. Asakawa, have been offering opportunities to experience hands-on crafts and fruit picking (see Blueberry Picking) for over ten years.
At Yasoan, natural dyes are made year-round. Depending upon the season, ingredients for the assorted dyes include wild grasses, flowers, chestnut husks, aspen leaves, and other organic material gathered from the garden and mountains.
