Soba Making

For those wishing a more ‘hands on’ experience of Japanese cuisine, Azumino’s Konekone House offers visitors the chance to make their own soba (Japanese buckwheat noodles) – a local speciality of Nagano Prefecture, famous throughout Japan! Friendly cooks within the premises are on hand to impart their expert skills onto beginners as they knead and cut their very own noodles, where upon completion, the freshly prepared soba is immediately cooked and presented to the visitors as part of a delicious meal.

Although verbal instruction in making the soba noodles is usually limited to Japanese, non-Japanese speaking visitors are nevertheless welcome and can easily follow the directions of the cooks through example and gestures. Be sure not to miss out on this fascinating and delicious cultural experience!
